The item I carry is a picture of my dad.
This picture means the most to me because when I look at it, I am comforted and reminded of home, of where I come from.
Without this picture, I sometimes become worried that I am losing my roots. With it, I know who I look like, and know where most of my personality traits come from.
This picture symbolizes who I am as a person because as a person, I am a lot like my dad. We look-alike and we act alike. Not only that, but the picture was taken in Jamaica, where I come from. This also reassured me because a lot of people think I don’t look Jamaican, and when I look at this picture, I identify with it because I know the picture was taken in Jamaica, and I know exactly where that place is. It symbolizes a time of happiness and content in my early childhood.
So I am fascinated with photography because of what it is able to capture. Pictures captures, in a sense, memories. It captures a time when something happened, and that fascinates me. It also fascinates me how a person could look at a picture and retell the events that took place that day in multiple different ways. When people do that, when I do that, I really sit there sometimes and say to myself (in a cheesy sort of moment), “A picture really is worth a thousand words.”
So when I was looking at these websites, I felt like I could sit there all day long and think up stories that matched the picture:
And then this video made me fall in love:
